Be it known that we, the subscribers, do hereby associate ourselves as a body politic and corporate pursuant to the Laws of the State of South Carolina regulating the formation and organization of non-profit corporations without capital stock, and the following is our Constitution:

Article I

The name of this organization is “North Augusta – Belvedere Amateur Radio Club, Incorporated”, hereinafter referred to as the Club.

Article II

All persons interested in Amateur Radio communications shall be eligible for membership. Membership shall be by application and election upon such terms as the club shall provide in its By-Laws.

Membership may not be denied because of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, marital status or any other reason that would be biased or prejudicial.

The Club shall have one or more classes of membership as provided by the By-Laws. The privileges, requirements, and qualifications for membership in such classes shall be as provided for by the By-Laws. All members shall receive and be required to read a copy of these Articles.

Article III

It shall be our purpose to further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism and individual operating efficiency, and to conduct club programs and activities and to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the community.

The goals of this Club include but are not limited to:

  • Promote interest in amateur radio communications and experimentation
  • Provide public amateur radio education through periodic classes
  • Advance the radio art within the community
  • Support community organizations and events through communication nets
  • Support Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) volunteers and operations
  • Participate in ARRL Field Day
  • Foster education in the field of electronic communication
  • Disseminate knowledge and information by electronic means
  • Print and publish documents and pamphlets for any of these purposes

It shall be the duty of all members to contribute to and to participate in Club activities; to serve on committees when appointed; to be prompt in any obligations to the Club; and to further the goals of the club.

Article IV

The officers of the Club shall be the President, the Trustee, the Vice President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer, who shall be elected or appointed as provided by the By-Laws. The Executive Committee consisting of the Club officers and two Directors elected as provided by the By-Laws shall govern the affairs of the Club. All members of the Executive Committee shall be qualified as provided by the By-Laws. No member may serve in two elected positions simultaneously.

Article V

The principal office of the Club shall be maintained at the address of the Club radio room, or elsewhere as may be determined by a majority of the Executive Committee, provided due written notice shall be given the membership at least thirty days prior to any change.

Article VI

Club Call sign and Repeater

The club will maintain the call sign K4NAB as provided by FCC rules Part 97.

The President shall assign trusteeship of the club call sign.

The trustee shall:

  • Be a member of the club in good standing
  • Meet FCC requirements.
  • Not had his/her Radio Amateur licensed revoked or sanctioned at any time.
  • Shall be responsible for operation and coordination of maintenance of Club repeater(s) and equipment.

Article VII

No part of the assets of the Club shall be the property of any individual member and all such assets shall be devoted exclusively to the goals set forth in Article III. No member of the Club shall use such membership for personal gain. In the event of dissolution of the Club, all assets shall be liquidated and all proceeds donated to the ARRL Foundation, Newington, Connecticut.

Article VIII

These Articles may be amended by a two-thirds vote of all voting members of the Club or, provided due notice of the proposed amendment shall have been posted on the website or emailed at least thirty days before the regularly scheduled meeting of the Club at which such proposed amendment is to be voted upon, by a two-thirds vote of the voting members present at such meeting, provided a quorum as defined in the By-Laws is present.

Due notice for the purposes of the modification of the Constitution shall be made known to members of the club by way of the preceding monthly meeting, announcements on the weekly radio nets, and on the club’s web site at least thirty days in advance of the action taken.

Article IX

This Constitution and By-Laws are adopted to bring the functions and operations of the Club up to date, superseding and repealing all like instruments including but not limited to the Constitution and By-Laws previously adopted.
